State Representative Dan Brady has won unanimous House approval of legislation ensuring mature drivers can participate online in training they need to obtain insurance premium discounts.
“Through eLearning, seniors can much more safely and easily access the instruction they need to reduce their vehicle insurance premiums. I’m pleased to have the support of my House colleagues, and I’m very optimistic that the Senate will soon concur,” Rep. Brady said.
House Bill 2570 was crafted in cooperation with the National Safety Council (NSC). It ensures that drivers 55 and over can complete the NSC’s Defensive Driving Course or a motor vehicle accident prevention course online (eLearning).
“Participants in eLearning programs receive the same content as classroom students with the flexibility to access it in a safe location convenient to them,” Rep. Brady stressed. “This change makes it easier for seniors to access to insurance premium discounts without placing any mandates or burdens on insurance carriers. It’s a true win-win.”
